I've seen lots of "award shows" for drawn comics, but nothing for sprited ones. Sprite comics may not be as popular as a media, but I believe we deserve to get SOMETHING. Therefore, I present to you the "Annual DSP Sprite Comic Awards"! (Crowd: YAAAAAAAY!) Here's how it works: From now until June 25th I will accept nominations for each of the catagory awards. We will accept any number of awards for each catagory. From June 20th to July 1st, we will vote to reduce the number of nominees to five per catagory. During the month of July, the actual voting will occur, and at the end of the month we will announce the finalists. Rules for Nominations: Comics at drshnaps.com are not eligible for these awards. This is to reduce bias. Absolutely any comic can be nominated, provided they have been updated within the last two months, have at least 25 strips done, and have a public website where they can be viewed. You can nominate as many sprite comics as you wish, but please, PLEASE take your nominations seriously. When posting your nomination, please state which catagory you are nominating the comic for and give a reason. When posting a nomination, be sure to give the URL where the comic can be seen. A single comic can be nominated for as many catagories as you wish. You may NOT nominate your own comic. The Catagories: Quality Related Awards: - Best Sprite Comic: The top choice out of all sprite comics. - Best use of Sprites: Nominees for this catagory should have an outstanding use of sprites. This will most likely include extraoridinary sprite edits and custimization. - Best use of Art/Backgrounds: Nominees for this catagory should show an outstanding use of art or backgrounds. (i.e. the area "around" the sprites). - Best use of Special Effects: Nominees for this catagory should show an outstanding use of special effects. Plot Related Awards: - Best Comedy: Nominees for this catagory should show an outstanding use of comedic skill. (i.e. These are the comics that make you laugh, people). - Best Drama: Nominees for this catagory should excel in telling dramatic stories with their comics. (i.e. These are the more serious themed comics.) This award is very prestigious due to its level of difficulty. - Best Action Comic: Best action or fighting sequences within a comic. Usually bring suspense or worry to the reader about the well being of the character fighting. - Best Videogame Storyline Comic: Nominees for this catagory follow the plot of an actual videogame but tell it from their own point of view (or "with a twist"). - Most Unique Storyline: Nominees for this catagory are best known for their originallity in plots and storyline. Character Related Awards - Best Character Development: Nominees for this catagory excel in character development. (i.e. The characters aren't all "two dimensional"). - Best Protagonist: Nominees for this catagory have good character development of their hero character. - Best Antogonist: Nominees for this catagory have good character development of their villain character. Specific Themed Comic Awards: - Best Mario Sprite Comic: Comics with a Mario theme. - Best Sonic Sprite Comic: Comics with a Sonic theme. - Best Kirby Sprite Comic: Comics with a Kirby theme. - Best Metroid Sprite Comic: Comics with a Metroid theme. - Best Megaman Sprite Comic: Comics with a Megaman theme. - Best Zelda Sprite Comic: Comics with a Legend of Zelda theme. - Best 8-bit Styled Comic: Comics that use imagry to the best of their ability to make the comic look like part of an 8-bit game.
